The DFW Business Council certification platform serves as an official certification platform for qualifying businesses to obtain Small Business Enterprise (SBE) certification in North Texas. Certification is designed to promote access to public contracting opportunities.

SBE certifications, including SBE and SBE Plus designations, promote small business participation in local infrastructure projects, professional services, and supplier networks. The Small Business Enterprise (SBE) Plus certification is an expanded application based upon input from North Texas public agency buying entities and their requirements to do business with them.

The DFW International Airport is the primary entity that is requesting the SBE Plus certification for their suppliers.

The main difference between the two certifications is that the principal owner(s) of the company will have to meet the Personal Net Worth (PNW) threshold and complete our PNW statement. Please note that applying for SBE Plus will also cover the SBE only requirement.

• If your business is currently or was previously a DFWMSDC-certified MBE, please use your existing login credentials to access the certification platform and begin your SBE or SBE Plus certification application. If you have forgotten your password, please click “Forgot password” to receive a new password via email.
• If you are a new user and would like to apply for SBE certification, please click “Create Login.”

SBE ONLY CERTIFICATION — If you’re applying for the regular SBE Only, your company will have to qualify as a small business per SBA small business size standards. For taxes, we require the company’s federal business taxes, complete copies. SBE PLUS CERTIFICATION — If you’re applying for the SBE Plus, the principal owner(s) will have to:

• • Fill out and complete our PNW statement.
  • Provide the company’s financial statements ( P&L and balance sheet)
  • Provide the company’s federal business taxes.
  • Provide personal tax returns in the miscellaneous attachments part of the Documentation section of your application. 

To be SBE Plus eligible, the principal owner’s PNW (personal net worth) cannot exceed $2.047 million, when calculating their personal assets – liabilities. Processing fees areas follows:

SBE Only Certification – Cost $275.00

Local SBE Plus Certification – (applicants must submit a completed Personal Net Worth Statement) – Cost – $350.00
